HOW TO REACH PATTI

1)	CONNECTION: CATANIA AIRPORT ---> HOTEL "LA PLAYA" (DIRECT)
	A NATO-ASI navette bus service will be organized by the School on July 6, 1998, connecting directly Catania airport to Hotel "La Playa" (about 180 KM). The bus will bring well visible the NATO-ASI poster or a similar indication, and will leave from immediately outside the airport hall with the following timetable: h. 13.00, 16.00, 19.00, 22.30. Some minor adjustments of departure times might take place after the general plan of participants' arrival times will be known. The service will be offered at the reduced cost of It.Lire 10.000 per person. A receipt of this payment will be issued by the School.
2)	CONNECTION: CATANIA AIRPORT ---> MESSINA RAILWAY STATION (DIRECT)
	Service operated by the bus society SAIS. These buses leave from immediately outside the airport hall and arrive in Piazza Stazione (Railway Station Square) in Messina. The departure timetable is the following: h. 9.45, 10.45, 13.00, 14.45, 17.00, 20.45. Arrival is scheduled 1.30 h. after departure.
3)	CONNECTION: CATANIA AIRPORT ---> CATANIA RAILWAY OR BUS STATION
	Take the city bus, N. 24, leaving every 15 minutes from immediately outside Catania airport hall. It reaches Catania R.S. in about 20 minutes. Buses to Messina leave from the same square of the R.S.
4)	CONNECTION: CATANIA R.S. ---> MESSINA R.S. (by train)
	Many trains leave during the day towards Messina R.S.. Their timetable will be changed after May 25, 1998, and will be provided in due time.
5)	CONNECTION: CATANIA R.S. ---> MESSINA R.S. (by bus)
	Buses by SAIS leave EVERY 30 MINUTES from the same square in which Catania R.S. is located. These buses reach Messina in about 80 minutes. This bus service is operating from about 5.30 in the morning to approximately 21.00 in the evening.
6)	CONNECTION : MESSINA R.S. ---> PATTI R.S. (by train)
	Frequent trains leaving with direction Palermo, stop in Patti. For the timetable see point 4
7)	CONNECTION : MESSINA R.S. ---> PATTI R.S. (by bus)
	Buses of AST society leave from VIALE S.MARTINO, in front of BANCA COMMERCIALE (five minutes walking from the R.S. station (maps to be provided) with the following departure timetable: (AST BUS SERVICE FROM MESSINA TO PATTI) h. 6.25 8.00 11.30 12.30 14.00 17.10 19.30 (*) Note that the NATO-ASI navette leaving from Catania airport will make a stop in Piazza Cavallotti, nearby Messina Railway Station in order to collect people coming from Reggio Calabria (see below)
8)	CONNECTION: REGGIO CALABRIA AIRPORT ---> MESSINA (PIAZZA CAVALLOTTI)
	Bus service operated by the society CAVALIERI. Buses leave in coincidence with ALL flights landing in Reggio Calabria, from immediately outside the airport hall. The bus will board the ferry in VILLA S.GIOVANNI and will bring you directly to MESSINA, in PIAZZA CAVALLOTTI, 80 minutes after departure from the airport. Please by the ticket in the airport hall. PIAZZA CAVALLOTTI is two minutes walking from Messina railway station. (maps of the zone will be provided).
9)	CONNECTION: MESSINA PIAZZA CAVALLOTTI ---> HOTEL LA PLAYA (PATTI) (DIRECT)
	The NATO-ASI navette (see 1), will leave from PIAZZA CAVALLOTTI at h. 14.30, 17.30, 20.30, 24.00
10)	CONNECTION : PATTI RAILWAY STATION OR AST BUS STOP ---> HOTEL LA PLAYA
	Once in PATTI please call the HOTEL LA PLAYA (0941 361398) and somebody will pick up you by car.
11)	REACHING PATTI BY CAR
	Leave the airport by following the indications to Catania. After a few hundred meters the road will branch into several directions; follow the (green) indications "A18 MESSINA (autostrada=motorway)" and "CATANIA TANGENZIALE", leading you LEFT. Almost immediately you should be driving along a large road; go ahead for about 2 KM., till you find at your RIGHT the exit to "A18 MESSINA". Take this and go straight ahead for about 12 KM. till you find the pay-toll station. After 76 KM you will reach MESSINA pay-toll station. Go ahead with direction PALERMO A20 (motorway) till you find the exit PATTI, after approximately 70 Km. Follow the indication to PATTI; go ahead for about 1500 mt, till you find on your right the indications to the hotel and to the NATO-ASI school. Instructions for the way back will be provided later, and in full detail at the school.
12)	DEPARTURE FROM PATTI
	A limited number of navette courses (2 or 3) will be organized on July 17 toward Catania Airport, and toward Piazza Cavallotti, in Messina, for bus connection to Reggio Calabria Airport. Otherwise, participants should leave toward Messina R.S. either via train, according to a timetable that will be provided as soon as possible, or via bus of the society AST leaving from Patti to Messina with the following timetable: AST BUS SERVICE FROM PATTI TO MESSINA h. 6.30, 7.00, 8.00, 9.00, 11.30, 14.00, 17.45 Catania Airport can be reached DIRECTLY from PIAZZA STAZIONE in Messina via buses of SAIS company leaving with the following timetable h. 5.00, 6.30, 7.30, 8.00, 8.30, 11.00, 12.00, 13.30, 15.00, 15.30, 17.00. A SAIS bus service is also available to Catania R.S. with departures every 30 minutes. Frequent trains are also available from Messina to Catania railway station with a timetable which will be provided as soon as possible. Reggio Calabria Airport can be reached from Piazza Cavallotti through the bus +ferry connections by CAVALIERI and leave approximately 2 hours before the flight departure time.
